Handling GA Universal and GA4 History

Prescient asks you to connect both GA's Universal Analytics and GA4 so that we can access as much historical data as possible. This data is used in our modeling process, and GA4 data will always be prioritized over GA Universal. If GA4 does not exist our models will revert to GA Universal if it's available.

Linking GA4 Sessions to Channels

Prescient doesn’t directly map GA4 sessions to specific advertising channels. Instead, it recognizes broad traffic patterns—such as organic or direct visits on Shopify pages—and uses these signals to model performance. When click reporting is missing or inaccurate, GA4 session data can serve as a more dependable signal for predicting revenue rather than attributing conversions to a specific channel.

In cases where external click reporting is incomplete, ensuring your GA4 session data is accurate can significantly improve Prescient’s ability to attribute revenue effectively.

Potential Over-Attribution to Lower-Quality Traffic Sources

Prescient may appear to over-attribute conversions to traffic sources with high session volume but low engagement if session data happens to predict revenue more accurately than spend. However, the model itself is not biased—whichever metric (sessions or spend) best explains revenue variance will receive more weight. For example, a surge in organic or word-of-mouth sessions may temporarily garner increased attribution if those sessions correlate strongly with revenue.
